The Chandler Lecture on Southern Business History
The Hutchin Lecture series features scholars in southern arts and letters and is generously supported by the Hutchins Family Foundation. All lectures are free and open to the public.
These lunchtime conversations highlight the scholarship of faculty and graduate students. Open to the campus community, however, RSVP is required.
Music on the Porch is an outdoor music series held four or five times a year at the Center for the Study of the American South which brings talented, knowledgeable, and eclectic musicians from around the region together to play and engage in discussion about sense of place, the creative process, and how the rich culture of the South influences music and musicians.
The Southern Film Series is a series of three films that focus on a particular aspect of the South. For our inaugural year, 2011-12, we are focusing on the changing personal demographics of the South. We are featuring the films Show Boat, Mississippi Masala and The Loving Story.
Gallery at the Love House
The Center has approximately three exhibitions a year, one each during the fall, spring, and summer. We welcome proposal submissions from artists on a rolling basis. Sculpture and other large non-flat pieces are, unfortunately, not able to be accommodated.
